Tura, Sept 14: In a unique move, the DSEO, Tura, organized an exposure trip to Mumbai for the meritorious students of West Garo Hills District who passed out from MBOSE Board Examination 2022 SSLC/HSSLC (Arts/Science/Commerce) for 3 days i.e., September 10 to 12, 2022. The trip was sponsored by West Garo Hills District Administration, Tura.
Altogether there were 18 meritorious students from West Garo Hills District but only 11 meritorious students participated in this Exposure/Study Trip.
In Mumbai, the Students were engaged with different kinds of educational as well as social activities. One such activity was the visit to the centre of education run by Sacred Light Foundation founded by Kavita Handique. The objective of this non-profit organisation is to extend a hand of support and guide the families in a holistic manner by providing wellness services to the underprivileged section of the community. The students got an opportunity to interact with those underprivileged children during the visit.
They also visited IIT Bombay and interacted with some of the students, PhD scholars, and HOD, and visited Physics Department, Department of Bioscience and went through the entire laboratory system.
Students were also taken to Nehru Planetarium and Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai, where they got a chance to explore the science museum.
Apart from educational and social activities, the students were also taken to various famous historical places during their leisure time.
