Shillong, June 9: The Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has ordered inquiry into the recent death of a young pregnant woman at the primary health centre (PHC) at Dangar village in East Khasi Hills district.
A statement issued by the Secretary of the MHRC on Wednesday informed that the Commission has taken cognizance of the case filed by the Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress (MPMC) state president on the matter.
The MPMC has alleged gross negligence and careless attitude of the doctor and the nurses on duty leading to the tragic death of one Muny R Marak (28) in Dangar PHC.
It said that the Commission has issued notice to the Chief Secretary, MS Rao to cause an inquiry to be conducted into the entire matter by an officer of the rank of Commissioner and Secretary and to submit a report to the Commission.
