Shillong, April 14: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has opined that militancy is not the problem but result of the problem which are socio-economic in nature.
His response came in view of a new militant outfit called ‘Lawei Ba Phyrnai’ which comprises of 37 “well qualified and talented jobless youth”.
“I have been saying this for the past 20 years, and it is not something new. I have always maintained in all my statements that militancy is not the problem it is a result of the problem which are socioeconomic issues and therefore unemployment definitely is a very important issue but it is not an issue that one can say let’s take this step and resolve,” he said.
To tackle the issue of unemployment, which the whole world is struggling with, he said government has come up with entrepreneurship programs and pushing the youths to enroll themselves in it.
