Tura, May 21: This year’s cricket tournament conducted by TDCA featured an exciting format, with top 9 teams from the previous year placed in the elite Group A, while the remaining teams competed in Group B. The tournament structure aimed to showcase high-quality cricket among the top-performing teams, while providing an opportunity for the top two teams in Group B to earn promotion to the elite group.
In a competitive season, one notable development was the relegation of two teams from Group A, who faced tough competition and found themselves demoted to Group B for the upcoming season. This change in status provided an opportunity for two new teams from Group B to join the elite ranks and showcase their skills against tougher competition.
Two standout teams that made a mark in the tournament were East Town Sports Association, Williamnagar, and Tura Bazar Cricket Club, who put up impressive performances in Group B. Their consistent and strong performance throughout the tournament earned them promotion to the elite Group A for the upcoming season, where they will compete against the top teams and strive to make their mark at the highest level of cricket competition in Garo Hills.

In Monday’s highly anticipated cricket match between Kimkro and Miracle, which happened to be the last match of the prestigious league championship, both teams had the same points and were separated by a small net run rate. The action unfolded in a rain-delayed encounter, with both teams facing off in a reduced 20-over contest. Miracle won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a challenging target for last year’s champion Kimkro.
Miracle’s batsmen delivered a stellar performance, putting up a formidable total of 193 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 19.4 overs. The top contributors for Miracle were Arien Bonchang with a solid 51 runs, supported by Lerry who scored 30 runs, and Ram Gurung who chipped in with 27 runs. Kilco was the standout bowler for Kimkro, taking three crucial wickets to stem the flow of runs.
