Nongpoh, May 20: Another attempted robbery was reported in Ri Bhoi District on Sunday night when unknown miscreants forcibly entered the State Bank of India branch located in the ICAR area of Umiam.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the miscreants took advantage of the darkness and forcibly broke the grills of the bank’s back door. They attempted to loot the bank, but failed to open the drawer where the money was kept.
The matter came to light on Monday morning when the staff of the SBI Umiam branch arrived in the office and immediately informed the police from Umiam Police Station for an investigation.
Following the incident, the Crime Branch arrived at the scene to investigate.
