Itanagar, Oct 18: NIMAS, one of the finest adventure institute of the country has achieved an extraordinary attempt by hoisting the Indian National Flag on the highest peak of all 28 states.

A team of mountaineers from NIMAS (National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports) under the leadership of Colonel Jamwal has successfully accomplished Mission Har Shikhar Tiranga – Ek Muhim Matrabhumi Ke Lie .

This was one-of-a-kind expedition and was a part of larger “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the nationwide celebration commemorating the 75th year of Indian independence and aligning with India’s G20 presidency.

The mission also resonated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent initiative, ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh,’ which celebrates our land and our heroes.

In total, this mission covered around 30,000 kms in last one year covering all the 28 states of our country making it a very unique & historical expedition and made a mark in the adventure history of the country.

The team leader Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal said that they have faced many problems on this journey.

“The expedition involved travelling across the country which came up with challenges like unavailability of transportation in some areas, poor roads in many remote areas, security challenges in Naxal effected areas and also interacting with local communities due to language barriers,” he said.

Some important discoveries were also made during the expedition and research for the mission.

It was found out Mt. Reo Purgyil is actually the highest peak of Himachal Pradesh and that the highest point of the state of Punjab is unnamed located in the Naina Devi Range. Many of the highest peaks remain unnamed due to lack of awareness.
