Mizoram FA banned players, clubs and officials for Match fixing Mizoram

Shillong, Nov 5: The Mizoram Football Association (MFA) on Monday issued a list of clubs, officials and players penalized for their involvement in the Mizo Premier League match manipulation and spot fixing charges.

The MFA has penalized three football clubs, three officials and 24 players by banning them from all and any football related activities ranging from one year to five years.

Interestingly, about nine players included in the banned are current and former players of Shillong Premier League Clubs including- Ryntih FC, Nongthymmai and Nongkiew Irat FC.

The Association has also released a statement as follows

“The Mizoram Football Association (MFA) wishes to inform the public and all stakeholders in Mizoram football of an unfortunate revelation within our football community. Through diligent investigation including support and cooperation from local law enforcement agencies, the MFA has uncovered cases of corruption in the form of match manipulation in the recently concluded Mizoram Premier League-II. These activities, involving a few miscreants however represent a severe breach of our values, undermine the integrity of the sport, and disrespect the fans who passionately support Mizoram football.”

“The MFA is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in our competitions. As a consequence of these findings, we have imposed strict penalties on those involved, details of which are attached herewith. We also assure stakeholders that Clubs found to be complicit in these activities will face sanctions affecting their participation in future competitions, and players and officials implicated will be subject to suspensions and other disciplinary measures deemed appropriate by the MFA.”

They assured all fans, partners, and stakeholders that they are taking every measure to prevent any recurrence of such incidents, and that the MFA will enhance its regulatory frameworks and strengthen monitoring mechanisms to safeguard the fairness of competitions.
