Must read

Aizawl, April 20: Churches across Mizoram celebrated Easter Sunday in a spirit of reverence and song.

The day began before dawn, as congregations gathered for Sunrise Services, singing hymns and listening to the gospel. Salvation Army brass bands roamed neighbourhoods playing the rousing hymn “Up from the Grave He Arose,” proclaiming the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Catholic churches had launched their observances the previous night with the traditional Easter Vigil – lighting the new Paschal fire, proclaiming the Resurrection, and celebrating Mass.

From early morning onward, churches of every denomination echoed with choir anthems and Gospel sermons. Many parishes hosted festive lunches featuring Easter‑egg themes, while floral bouquets adorned sanctuaries in remembrance of departed loved ones.

Worship is set to continue late into the night, concluding with congregational hymn‑singing that will carry the Easter message into the early hours of Monday.
