Aizawl, Oct 11: In a major setback to MNF ahead of Mizoram Polls on November 7, the state assembly Speaker, Lalrinliana Sailo resigned on Wednesday from his post and assembly membership.
He said that he would join the BJP to contest the upcoming Mizoram Assembly Elections.
Sailo submitted his resignation letter to the Assembly Deputy Speaker H. Biakzaua and requested him to accept it.
After his resignation, he said that the MNF last month finalised candidates for all the 40 Mizoram assembly seats but he was denied tickets.
The Congress turned MNF leader has been elected to the assembly four times from the Chalfilh assembly constituency.
This comes days after MNF MLA K. Beichhua resigned from the party and joined the BJP.
