Shillong, Nov 7: The Labour Room and Maternity Ward at Umroi Health and Wellness Centre were officially inaugurated by Damanbaitbha Lamare, the local MLA of Umroi Constituency.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Arpit Upadhayaya, the local MDC of Umroi, R.R. Kharbuki, along with several distinguished guests and residents from Umroi.

This significant development comes because of a collaborative effort, with the SELCO Foundation taking charge as one of the implementing agencies. An MOU was previously signed between the SELCO Foundation and the Ri Bhoi District administration under the Aspiration District programme of NTI Ayog.

The newly constructed Labour Room and Maternity Ward, executed by SELCO as the implementing agency, was generously provided free of charge by the Umroi Presbyterian Church.

The SELCO Foundation’s commitment to the MOU with the district administration includes ensuring a well-planned health sub-centre that remains resilient to power disruptions during emergencies.
