Tura, April 30: The District Sports Officer of West Garo Hills, in collaboration with the Tura District Athletics Association, successfully organised a two-day District Level Inter-School Athletics Meet at the Don Bosco Higher Secondary School field.
The event concluded on Wednesday with the final competitions and a prize distribution ceremony, despite weather interruptions caused by rain.
The meet saw enthusiastic participation from around 25 schools across the district, with students competing in various categories—Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18—for both boys and girls. The event aimed to promote athletics at the grassroots level and identify promising talents for future state-level competitions.
Young athletes competed in a range of events, including the 100m and 600m races, 4x100m relay, high jump, long jump, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, and triathlon.
