Shillong, Sept 30: NCP MLA from Gambegre and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) Ltd, Saleng Sangma, has lamented the MTC bus incident which occurred in the early hours of September 30.
Speaking to Hub News, Sangma said the Government should take responsibility for the mishap. Stating that accidents are inevitable, he said certain preventive measures or some kind of accountability should be taken up by the Government as the particular road is prone to accidents.
“Stern checking (alcohol check) for the drivers driving public buses as that of the Pilots in the airport should be implement so as such incidents can be prevented,” added Sangma.
Sangma said he will also write a letter so that certain preventive measures can be put in place which can reduce accidents.
He also conveyed his condolence to the bereaved family.

Spate of accidents in Garo Hills
With the series of accidents happening in Garo Hills one just few days back where an innocent child crushed under wheels of boulder truck, the NCP MLA hit on the businessmen and politicians, stating that due to their greed innocent people have to suffer.
Sangma said, “Drunk drivers should be penalized heavily, the drivers should be disposed off and their licences should be seized… Such drivers should be lifetime barred from driving a vehicle.”
