Itanagar, Nov 27: A devastating mudslide at a construction site in Doni Colony, Itanagar, claimed the lives of two labourers and left two others severely injured on Tuesday.
The deceased, Jahan Hemran (45) and Vijay Bag (46), hailed from Dhekiajuli, Assam. The injured have been identified as Ganesh Oran and Joseph Dopnu, who were rushed to Rama Krishna Mission Hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred while the four were digging to construct a retaining wall when the soil suddenly gave way, trapping them beneath.
A case of unnatural death has been registered at Itanagar Police Station. Randhir Kumar Jha, leading the rescue operation with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local police, reported that the rescue effort lasted from 4 PM to 9 PM.
