Rajabala, Oct 24: The Former chief minister Mukul Sangma from the congress, has suggested to his arch rival NPP to first undergo a cleansing by fire ritual to prove they are free of corruption as the general perception among the people of the state was that the Conrad K Sangma government is lacking in governance and responsibility.
“They have to first go through an Agniparisksha to prove they are free from the allegations of corruption and until then they are untouchable to us,” said Dr Mukul Sangma while speaking to mediapersons at the congress rally in Bhaitbari town of Rajabala on Sunday. He said that the NPP government has caused the state to undergo economic stress and allegedly encouraged irregularities which has made people frustrated with a majority keen to see its departure.
“As anyone in Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and Garo Hills. Majority will say they want this government to go,” Dr Mukul Sangma said.
He questioned the claim of NPP leader and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong who said that Dr Mukul Sangma had tried to forge a post-poll alliance to return to power after the results of the state elections.
“This Dr Mukul Sangma didn’t meet him and has no desire to meet him,” said the ex-chief minister.
