Shillong, Feb 25: Congress Legislative Party leader and leader of opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma has admitted that there is a lack of unanimity in certain cases while allotting tickets to the aspirants’ candidates for the election to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, even as he mentioned that there are certain strategies that the congress has adopted on the ground realities.
Asked about the resignation of Bajengdoba Block Congress Committee president along with 15 others, Dr. Mukul said, “There are certain strategies that the party has taken based on the ground realities and in certain cases, you will still have a lack of unanimity in such decisions as you will these are something which are though seen as surprises but we are prepared for such surprises. ”
Former Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) CEM and president of the Bajengdoba Block Congress Committee, Winsang Sangma, along with 15 other members, on Wednesday, resigned from their posts, expressing discontent with the allotment of a party ticket for the 24-Bolsong GDC constituency.
According to Sangma, he, along with other members, tendered their resignations after Congress gave the party ticket to one Manseng Momin, who is not from the area.
“Momin is not a voter of the 24-Bolsong GDC constituency. He is from Rongjeng but the ticket has been allotted to him, against which we stand together,” Sangma said in the resignation letter.
