Shillong, Dec 13: AITC chairperson Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said the party will announce its chief ministerial candidate once the elections are declared for Meghalaya.

She also asked the people to keep on guessing as to who will be the chief ministerial candidate of the AITC from among the two leaders – Mukul Sangma and Charles Pyngrope – in the state.

“We will let you know very soon. Let the elections be announced. Mukul was the ex-chief minister and we are very happy about his performance. Charles is also there and we are very happy – so you can guess,” Banerjee told reporters.

Stating that the agenda of the party will be made known within a short time, she said, “We will be doing all the important work. I have many schemes to help the people…I am happy Meghalaya has good leadership.”

When asked, Banerjee said that the party leadership will not interfere with the decision of the state party, which has decided to contest from all the 60 seats.

“If other parties want to join or have any alliance that the local party will decide, and we will have no objection to it,” she further stated.

Banerjee said that her party is also preparing to chargesheet the NPP-led MDA government in the state.
