Mushroom poisoning kills a three-year-old boy, family members critical in Ri Bhoi

Shillong, June 5: A three-year-old child died on Wednesday after being treated for a couple of days, while his whole family is in critical condition after consuming poisonous mushrooms in Saiden, Ri Bhoi District.

It may be mentioned that on the afternoon of June 2, a family from Saiden village, under Nongkyndang in Ri Bhoi District, had dinner with allegedly poisonous mushrooms. After several hours, five members of the same family, including the three-year-old boy, were hospitalized and shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital and Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh for medical attention.

Unfortunately, the three-year-old boy died on Wednesday morning, and the others are still in critical condition.

The boy, named Da-u-Rijied Syiemlieh, lost the battle in the ICU of Bethany Hospital, Ri Bhoi.
