Rajabala, Oct 27: National People’s Party (NPP) national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, has asserted that his objective is to develop and take forward every constituency in Meghalaya.
New faces and new hopes to fulfil! Received with so much love at New Bhatibari under Rajabala Constituency whilst contesting for our candidate Abdus Saleh.
Thank you to the supporter who presented the carved wooden symbol of our party. This love is carved in our hearts! pic.twitter.com/B6pCvJKQBF

Addressing a massive rally at Bhaitbari under Rajabala constituency on Wednesday to drum up support for the party candidate Abdus Saleh for the October 30 bye-election, Sangma said he also wants to develop the Rajabala constituency but he doesn’t have a channel. So he needs that channel, a way and that will be possible through Saleh.
“I want to see that in the coming 1.5 years development also comes to Rajabala but there is only one way to make this possible… and that is through Abdus Saleh,” the NPP chief said.
He said the MLAs that have joined him are proof of the development in each of their constituency. “Ask the MLAs here about the roads we have constructed, schools and colleges we have opened, hospitals built, the number of people, especially poor, we have helped…” mentioned Sangma and exhorted that “if you are with the government, you will get the development.”
This election is not normal
He further stressed that this election (bye-election) is not normal election. “This election is very important for our state and for Rajabala constituency,” he said.
He mentioned that whenever elections are held, everyone only wonder about who will form the government and who will be the Chief Minister. “But in this election, you don’t have to worry because the government is standing infront of you and the Chief Minister is also standing infront of you and all our MLAs are standing infront of you,” he said.
At the same time he also recalled the words of his late father PA Sangma. He said his father taught them to always work for the people and always keep their needs and interests in mind when initiating projects and the people will always help you back. “They will vote for you and this happened in 2018,” reminded Sangma.
Message of unity
The NPP chief also urged the people of the region to give a message to the rest of Meghalaya through the bye-elections that they are united irrespective of their ethnicities and religion.
“I want you all to give a message to entire Meghalaya that we all in plain belt area – tribals, non-tribals, Hindu, Muslims – are all together,” he said while asking them to support the party candidate Abdus Saleh and the NPP-led government.
