Shillong, March 9: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (N.I.F.T) Shillong announced its annual event ‘Spectrum,’ a two-day program held on Friday and Saturday at the institution’s campus.
The event celebrated creativity and talent, featuring the brightest designs and creations by its students.
With the theme “Navarasa – Ki thwei jingsngew,” Spectrum explored the spectrum of human emotions, ranging from sadness, darkness, and anger to happiness, contentment, and light. Through this theme, students aimed to capture the complexity and richness of human feelings in their designs.
The event began with a traditional lighting of the lamps by senior faculty members, followed by a student dance performance. The SDAC of the campus gave a brief speech to mark the event’s opening.
A special keynote speech was delivered by the Director, Mr. Shankar Kumar Jha of NIFT Shillong, welcoming all attendees, especially students from different colleges in the city. Director Jha highlighted that Spectrum coincides with International Women’s Day, empowering women in all aspects of life through its theme, Navarasa.
The event also featured various club activities organized by student clubs, including a marathon race, tug of war, creative writing, slam poetry sessions, and a battle of the bands, adding a musical flair to the event.
As quoted by the institution, “The two-day event promises to showcase innovation, artistry, and the diverse range of human emotions expressed through fashion.”
