Narrow escape for Tura public as BSF truck destroys 6 vehicles in accident

TURA, July 2: Pedestrians and commuters who had gone to Tura Nakham bazar for the weekly Saturday marketing narrowly escaped when a passing BSF truck lost control and dashed against several parked vehicles by the road side injuring two persons as well.

The incident took place at 11:30 AM when Nakham bazar was filled with shoppers out to buy rations.

The BSF truck that was passing through the busy road suddenly lost control, dashed against several vehicles and then turned on its side. Both the driver and handyman of the truck also sustained injuries.

Tura police said that the accident happened around 11:30 Saturday morning in which a BSF truck bearing registration number AS-01-KC-1775 belonging to the 181 Battalion lost control and rammed several parked vehicles before capsizing in its side.

The BSF has said the accident was caused by brake failure, but Tura police will wait for the report of the Motor Vehicle Inspector’s report.

In the meantime, an FIR has been received at Tura PS and a case has been registered.

The four injured, including a woman, are said to have sustained simple injuries and have been treated at the Tura hospital.
