Tura, Feb 28: In an effort to promote scientific temperament, the National Science Day Celebration was held at Don Bosco College, Tura.
The three day event was organised by Department of Science, IQAC Don Bosco College in collaboration with Meghalaya Science Society.
This years theme “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat” emphasised the relevance of indigenous innovations and showcased the work of Indian scientists.
The Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Jagdish Chelani attended the celebration and spoke on the need to make India ‘Atmanirbhar’ through science.
Over 350 students from different schools and colleges attended the programme.
Faculty of Don Bosco College Dr Arindam Gosh gave a detailed presentation on ‘Raman Effect’ and its relevance in shaping different concepts on science.
Dr Madhusudan Saha also enlightened the students on appreciation of science in our day to day lives.
Others who spoke included principal Fr Bivan Mukhim and Dr Barbara Sangma, IQAC coordinator of Don Bosco College, Tura.
