Guwahati, April 10: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has successfully dismantled an inter-state synthetic drug network in Assam.
In a recent breakthrough, the NCB seized 30.4 kg of methamphetamine tablets (YABA) worth ₹24.32crore and arrested three individuals in two separate operations in Silchar.
On April 6, 2025, after three months of intelligence gathering, NCB Guwahati, in a joint operation with the Assam Police, intercepted a vehicle, discovering 9.9 kg of methamphetamine tablets concealed in a hidden compartment. The sole occupant, a resident of Churachandpur, Manipur, was arrested on the spot.

Later that night, in another operation with Assam Police and CRPF, a Mahindra Thar was intercepted, leading to the discovery of 20.5 kg of methamphetamine tablets hidden inside the vehicle’s spare tyre. Two more individuals from Churachandpur were arrested.
These seizures follow an earlier NCB operation on March 13, 2025, where 110 kg of methamphetaminewas confiscated in two separate cases in Silchar, Assam, and Lilong, Manipur, leading to multiple arrests and vehicle seizures.

Further strengthening its crackdown, NCB has expanded its presence with four new zonal units in Siliguri, Itanagar, Agartala, and Imphal, along with a Regional Headquarters in Guwahati. Additionally, a Field Office in Aizawl, Mizoram, operationalized in March 2025, immediately led to the seizure of 10.814 kg and the arrest of six individuals, including two Myanmarese nationals.
