Tura, July 2: The Pre Subroto Cup Under-17 Girls Football Tournament for the North-East Region organised by 41 Meghalaya Battalion NCC, Tura, under the aegis of NCC Group, Shillong, began at Chandmari Football Turf in Tura on Tuesday.
The tournament aims to identify the team that will represent the NCC North-East Region at the prestigious Subroto Cup tournament to be held in New Delhi.
Over the course of the eight-day tournament, each team will play three matches in the league stage, with the finale being played on July 9.
A total of eight NCC teams from various states participated in this tournament. The teams were divided into two groups. Group A includes teams from Silchar, Guwahati, Dibrugarh, and Tezpur, while Group B features teams from Kohima, Shillong, Jorhat, and ADG 11 (represented by 62 NCC Battalion, Silchar).
The opening match saw Shillong deliver a commanding performance, defeating Kohima with a dominant 7-0 victory. The second match of the day featured Mizoram and Guwahati, where the Mizoram under-17 girls team triumphed with a 4-1 victory. The third match, played between Dibrugarh and Tezpur, ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams earning one point each.
