Agartala, Dec 10: The 72nd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) will be held in Agartala next week. The two-day event will see the participation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, as well as Governors and Chief Ministers from all eight northeastern states.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha reviewed the preparedness for the event on Tuesday. Addressing media persons, he stated that the session would be conducted in two phases. The official-level meeting is scheduled for December 20, while the main plenary session will be held the following day at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala.
According to CM Saha, Union Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Agartala on December 20 and participate in the NEC session on December 21.
The two-day session will focus on reviewing the progress of various ongoing and proposed development projects across the northeastern region. Additionally, a review meeting of the North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) is slated for December 22.
The plenary session was originally scheduled for August 31 and September 1 but was postponed due to the devastating floods in Tripura.
The event will be attended by Governors, Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, and senior officials from the Centre and all eight northeastern states, underscoring its significance for regional development and planning.
