Shillong, Oct 3: Persistent rain throughout the day on Thursday has forced the semifinals of the 1st Senior Women’s Interstate Friendship T20 Tournament to be moved to reserve day, i.e. Friday.
The tournament is organised by the North East Cricket Development Council (NECDC) and hosted by the Meghalaya Cricket Association at the Pahamsning Cricket Ground in Ri-Bhoi.
A brief window allowed a few overs of the first match on Thursday morning between Meghalaya and Nagaland but it was not possible to finish this match nor start the second one between Sikkim and Manipur.
The Tournament Committee has thus decided that the semis will be played afresh on Friday, with Meghalaya versus Nagaland at 9am and Sikkim versus Manipur at 12:30pm.
In case no result is possible on Friday as well, the tournament’s Rule No. 14 will be implemented to get a result – in the first instance a super over will be used. If it is not possible to conduct a super over, a “bowl out” will be used and if this is also not possible the result will be decided by coin toss.
The final is scheduled for Saturday and there is no reserve day for this.
