Tura, Mar 23: NEHU Tura campus students representatives submitted a letter to the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shukla of North Eastern Hill University through the vicepresident of NEHUSU, Tura Campus in-charge urging the authorities to conduct election for a student union at Tura NEHU campus as there was no election conducted since past few years.
Tura campus presently has no students union to cater to thr problems and needs of the students. Vice chancellor informed that as per the constitution there can be only one student union body in the university. He also stated that the responsibilities and post has to be shared in two campuses and therefore provision will be reconstituted for decision making due to geographical differences.
He further stated that for the upcoming events in Tura NEHU campus such as varsity week and other programs, students council will take full responsibilities in organizing students programs and events until next election is held.
The students representatives also urged the vice chancellor that before the NEHUSU election are held, interim body should be created in Tura campus and election should be conducted at the earliest.
Vice chancellor commenced that the committee will be set up to discuss the reconstitution of students union having two campuses.
