NEHUTA elects new office bearers, Prof. Lakhon Kma elected as new president

Shillong, June 6: The North Eastern Hill University Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA), a statutory body of teachers of NEHU, has elected Prof. Lakhon Kma as its new president. Prof. D.V. Kumar has been elected as Vice-President and Dr. Marbhador M. Khymdeit as General Secretary.

The other office bearers include Dr. Juwesh Binong as Joint Secretary and Dr. (Ms.) Jacqueline J. Thabah as Treasurer. Besides these office bearers, six more members got elected to Executive Committee, namely, Prof. Donkupar Syiem, Prof. Xavier P. Mao, Dr. Pankaj Sarkar, Prof. P. Hangsing, Prof. Prasenjit Biswas.

It also needs to be mentioned that Dr. Dokatchi Ch. Marak from Dept. Of Garo was elected to represent teachers of Tura Campus.

After assuming charge, on a discussion about future vision of NEHUTA, the President Prof. Lakhon Kma outlined the need for correcting wrongs done to teachers and pursue a path of growth for younger segments of teachers.

Prof. Donkupar Syiem emphasized on continuing past good work and go forward towards creating healthy academic ambience. Dr. Pankaj Sarkar spoke about NEHUTA’s support for younger teachers to motivate and inspire them for fulfilling objects of teachers’ larger public good and career goals.

The newly elected body also decided to hold its first meeting soon to chart out its agenda.
