NEIGRIHMS hosts workshop on advanced Image-Guided Biopsy Techniques

Shillong, March 30: The Department of Radiology & Imaging NEIGRIHMS organized a CME cum Workshop on “Image Guided Tissue Sampling Techniques – Principles and Recent Advances” on March 29.

Over 30 radiologists and residents’ doctors from all over Meghalaya attended the CME. The live workshop was conducted by Dr. Binoy Kumar Choudhury Senior Consultant from State Cancer Institute, GMCH, Guwahati and a world-renowned specialist in CT and Ultrasonography guided biopsies.

Prof. Nalin Mehta Director, NEIGRIHMS who graced the event said “Given the cancer burden of Meghalaya and Northeast at large, NEIGRIHMS with its Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) has already taken initiative in making sure that patients don’t have to travel far and wide for receiving a tissue diagnosis”. Prof. Mehta further congratulated the departments in organizing such events and disperse the skill and knowledge amongst the doctors in the region.

Prof. C. Daniala Head of the Department of Radiology & Imaging said that “We are a growing community of radiologists in Meghalaya and need to be united in certain practices pertaining to patient care. NEIGRIHMS already has an established Radiation Oncology and Surgical Oncology departments that need support from trained Oncoradiologists” Organizing Secretory and Additional Professor Dr. Donboklang Lynser added that the meet was a success and that patients of Meghalaya will be benefitted from such academic training activities.
