Williamnagar, Aug 2: The Northeast Institute of Professional Studies (NeIPS) has successfully wrapped up a Basic Cooking Skills Training programme in Williamnagar, targeted at the entrepreneurs of the district with hopes of boosting the tourism sector in East Garo Hills and the state.
The four-day programme was held from July 29 to August 1, 2024. It was funded by the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) under the Skills Meghalaya Project and supported by the Tourism Department.
The training was designed to enhance the culinary skills of entrepreneurs who manage homestays, guest houses, and restaurants in the region.
Michael Thongni, CEO of NeIPS, acknowledged the efforts of Chief Minister Conrad Kongkal Sangma for his initiatives that positively impact state entrepreneurs. “If the people of the state are equipped with skills in entrepreneurship, the state thrives in its revenue,” Thongni said. He also extended his gratitude to the Skill Development Officer (SDO), MSSDS, East Garo Hills, and the tourism officer and his NeIPS team for their unwavering support and guidance throughout the program.
This initiative marks a crucial step in bolstering the local tourism sector and providing valuable skills to entrepreneurs, contributing to the economic growth of the region. NeIPS remains committed to supporting and empowering local communities through such impactful programs.
