Tura, June 13: The Superintendent of Tura Civil Hospital, West Garo Hills, has informed that the New Annexed Building of Tura Civil Hospital is now declared to be safe to occupy after necessary repairing of the retaining wall.
In light of this, all the concerned departments namely, ICU, Ortho and ENT, Male Medical Ward, Paying Cabins, DRC and OPDs have been directed to revert back to their respective wards and rooms with effect from June 13, 2023.
It is to be mentioned here that on May 12, 2023, the Tura Civil Hospital had decided to evacuate patients from the New Annexed Building following a landslide behind the building on, which had caused erosion of the retaining wall and exposed the building’s foundation and plinth.
Officials from the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) had assessed that the building is in danger, especially during heavy rain and thunderstorms. Although the civil work to repair the retaining wall was undertaken immediately, in the interest of the public and avoid potential loss of life, the hospital administration decided to evacuate patients from the New Annexed Building, which houses the ICU, male medical wards, orthopedic and ENT ward, psychiatry ward, and OPDs.
