Guwahati, May 25: In view of the prevailing heat wave conditions, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is ensuring the availability of Water Vending Machines (WVMs), Water Coolers, and water Taps across the several major railway stations within its zone.
In an official statement, NF Railway stated that water refilling of all the long-distance trains is being ensured at regular intervals at nominated stations or as and when noticed by employing the Quick Watering system method.
According to the official release, more than a hundred Water Vending Machines are installed and operating at major station platforms, including Katihar Jn., New Jalpaiguri, Raiganj, Samsi, New Coochbehar, Kokrajhar, Hasimara, etc.
These installed WVMs dispense clean and hygienic water for refilling bottles and carry-away containers. These machines will enable passengers to purchase potable drinking water at a reasonable price.
The facility will be available at stations around the clock. Passengers can buy clean and hygienic drinking water for only Rs 5/- for refilling and Rs 8/- for a carry-away container of one-litre bottles. Similarly, bottles with a 5-litre water capacity cost Rs 20/- for refill and Rs 25/- for carry-away containers.
