Nongpoh, Jan 20: The congregation of pressure groups in Ri Bhoi District on Thursday expressed happiness over the immediate initiatives taken by the Ri Bhoi District Administration for taking important measures to prevent any outbreak at the Dwarksuid bridge located at the Shillong Bypass.

It may mention that the major bridge of Dwarksuid along the Shillong Bypass under the National Highway Authority of India has been witnessing new cracks emerging, which has put the lives of the people travelling through the bridge in danger.

The JAC comprising of prominent organizations including the HYC, CORP, MPUF and MPSO, recently submitted the memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi demanding immediate repair of the bridge at Dwarksuid in Shillong Bypass.

On Thursday, the JAC met the Additional Deputy Commissioner MB Tongper and were informed that due action has been taken at the Dwarksuid bridge and order for immediate repairing has been given. Expressing gratitude to the government for the prompt action, JAC hoped that the matter is taken up as soon as possible for the interest of the general public.
