Shillong, May 25: NIT Meghalaya has opened a Computer Training Center at its temporary campus situated at Bijni Complex for the visually impaired to enhance the livelihood of such people on 22.05.2024. Meghalaya has approximately 2300 visually impaired people.
The training center will give basic training on Microsoft Office, Excel, Document writing, web browsing, social media related knowledge. The course will be of two months duration. In the first batch 10 people will be admitted and the certificate will be given from NIT Meghalaya.
The center was inaugurated by Maya Alag and Sunil Alagh, Chairman, BoG, NIT Meghalaya. Director of NIT Meghalaya, Prof. Pinakeswar Mahanta, Dean (s), Professors, faculty and staff members were present for the occasion.
The center is developed by the team lead by Dr. Bunil Kumar Balabantaray, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering. In the event, members from Blind Lead Trust led by Jitendra Dkhar were also present.
