Tura, May 21: Nivedita Senior Secondary School of Tura took a bold step towards promoting public health and awareness with its impactful anti-tobacco campaign held on the 16th of May, 2024. In a spirited rally that saw participation from about 200 students and their dedicated teachers, the school community marched through the town’s streets, carrying posters and banners with compelling messages urging people to give up tobacco and tobacco products.

The rally, which began at 10 AM from the school premises, wound its way through the main thoroughfares of the bazaar, drawing significant attention and support from local residents.

The students’ enthusiasm and commitment to the cause were palpable as they chanted slogans advocating for mental health care and the harmful effects of tobacco use.

“Smoking kills, quitting thrills!” and “Healthy mind, healthy life – say no to tobacco!” were some of the powerful messages that echoed through the streets, capturing the essence of the campaign. The visually striking posters and banners designed by the students themselves depicted the severe consequences of tobacco addiction and the benefits of leading a tobacco-free life.

The response from the public was overwhelmingly positive. Many members of the community spontaneously joined the rally, marching alongside the students and teachers, demonstrating a collective resolve to combat tobacco addiction. The collaboration between the school and the town’s residents highlighted the shared responsibility and communal effort needed to address public health issues.
