Tura, Sept 22: The Chapter-2 of Umbrella Project, a 5-day workshop on various arts which was titled NOKPANTE – come and learn, concluded on Friday evening.
The event was organised by the Directorate of Arts and Culture, Govt of Meghalaya at the District Auditorium & District Library, Tura. It started on September 18 and September 22, 2023.

It featured workshop and competition on Film Making (Script Writing), Theatre, Traditional Musical Instrument (Dotrong & Chigring) and Art in a Community.
The closing ceremony began with performances from the participants of the theatre category and the traditional musical instruments category showcasing their talent and what they learnt in the workshop.
The participants from the ‘art in a community’ section also showcased their art which they had been working on since the start of the workshop. There was also a competition held amongst the participants of their particular workshop category and the prizes were also given to the winners of the competition in the various said categories. However, for the category of script writing, the participants of which shall submit their scripts by Monday to their assigned resource persons, the winners will be announced on Wednesday and they can collect their certificates from the District Library office. The program ended with the distribution of participation certificates to the participants in the various said categories.
Speaking to Hub News, one of the participants said, ” The program was good overall. Got to see the variety of talents that are present in Garo Hills. I myself took part in the script writing category of this workshop and got to learn a lot about this art and I’m even more interested now to explore more into this. This has been a great opportunity and an enthralling experience.”
