Nongkrem Dance: CM Conrad extends Shad Nongkrem greetings to the people of Meghalaya

Shillong, Nov 02: The Nongkrem Dance festival is being celebrated with great enthusiasm on Thursday. The festival includes traditional dance performances, with intricate moves and colorful traditional attire.

In a recent tweet, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma highlighted the significance of the ‘Shad Nongkrem’ or ‘Nongkrem Dance’ festival. The Chief Minister expressed his hope that this day would strengthen the bonds within the community and contribute to the promotion of peace and harmony in both the state of Meghalaya and the nation as a whole.

Taking to X, he wrote, “‘Shad Nongkrem’ or ‘Nongkrem Dance’ is a grand carnival that celebrates the uniqueness of the Khasi culture. May this day establish strong bonds among the community and restore peace and harmony in our State and country.”

“Wishing the people of Meghalaya a happy Shad Nongkrem!,” CM added.

This year, the Pomblang or Nongkrem dance festival 2023 was scheduled for November 1 and 2.
