Shillong, May 31: A man identified as Jefferson Jana has been arrested by police for allegedly murdering his two children. The bodies of two minors were recovered from Wahktieh forest in Nongrah on Tuesday morning.

Sources informed that the accused was arrested hours after the incident and was taken by the police for medical check-up.

Investigation will immediately start, they said.

Earlier, the headman of Nongrah Nonglum informed that Jana used to take out his two children of the age of 4 and 2 years but when they did not return home on Monday evening, the mother immediately filed an FIR with the Rynjah police station at 11 pm.

Taking swift action, the police along with members of the Dorbar Shnong had organized a search operation but they could not find the two children. He, however, said that it was around 8.30 am on Tuesday that he had received a call from people informing about two bodies lying inside the forest.
