North East Express Derailment: Over 1006 passengers leave for Guwahati; Assam CM closely monitoring the situation

Guwahati, Oct 12: In a major development, around 1006 passengers have left for Guwahati after the North-East Express derailed on Wednesday night.

The incident is said to have taken place at around 9:30 pm in which four people have lost their lives and over 70 people have been injured..

Taking to X, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “I have received the news of the derailment of North East Express 12506 – from Anand Vihar to Kamakhya. We are closely monitoring the situation and are establishing contact with local authorities and other agencies.”

Assam CMO informed that Chief Minister’s Office is closely monitoring the unfortunate derailment of Train Number 12506 in Raghunathpur and is in touch with the District authorities in Buxar & other agencies.

MoS Home Nityanand Rai on Thursday said that 3 teams of NDRF rushed to at spot last night after they received information of the Incident.

He said with local administration, the NDRF team launched relief and rescue operation.
