North-East gets its first vehicle scrapping facility

Guwahati, Feb 8: Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled its state-of-the-art Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) named Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect in Guwahati. This advanced facility, operated in partnership with Axom Platinum Scrappers, marks a milestone for sustainable automotive practices in the Northeast, with the capacity to dismantle up to 15,000 end-of-life vehicles annually.

The launch event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Jogen Mohan, Minister of Hill Areas Development and Transport, and Ashok Singhal, Minister of Health and Family Welfare. Tata Motors Executive Director Girish Wagh and Axom Automobiles Director Dr Sanjive Narain were also present.

Highlighting the initiative’s significance, Jogen Mohan stated, “This facility will generate employment, boost economic growth, and ensure safe disposal of vehicles, contributing to a cleaner environment.”

Mr Girish Wagh emphasized Tata Motors’ commitment to a circular economy, noting the company’s ability to dismantle over 100,000 vehicles annually across seven states.

Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the fully digitized facility offers eco-friendly dismantling processes compliant with India’s vehicle scrappage policy, including safe handling of components like tyres, batteries, and fluids.

Every vehicle undergoes a meticulous documentation and dismantling process designed specifically to meet the responsible scrapping requirements of passenger and commercial vehicles, guaranteeing safe disposal of all components as per the nation’s vehicle scrappage policy.
