Itanagar, Nov 7: The North East India Fashion Week – The Artisans Movement’s sixth edition is all set to be held from November 19-21 at Koro Happa River Island, Jollang in Arunachal Pradesh.The announcement was made on Tuesday by CEO Yana Ngoba Chakpu.
One Arunachal, a registered NGO which is dedicated to preserving the traditional and cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh will be organising the three-day fashion extravaganza, the sixth edition of North East India Fashion Week – The Artisans Movement.
While speaking at the event, Yana Ngoba Chakpu said that the NGO is committed to training and promoting the weavers and designers from the region through ongoing skill development and capacity building. This endeavour aims to enhance employability, secure better livelihoods, dignify labour, and establish a brand presence with global market connections.”
Chief Minister Pema Khandu will grace the event as the Chief Guest. Other expected guests are Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Pijush Hazarika, Minister of Water Resources, Information and Public Relations, and Parliamentary Affairs, Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt of Assam, and several other dignitaries.
The event will also be a platform to highlight the skills and creativity of artisans hailing from across northeastern India. The three-day fashion show will witness the active participation of approximately 30 designers and weavers.
It will also promote inclusivity by offering equal opportunities to Divyangjan and Non-Divyangjan artisans.
