Tura, Dec 8: The 14th edition of the North East Riders Meet (NERM) 2024 concluded on a high note in Tura, Garo Hills, showcasing the vibrant camaraderie of the motorcycling community across states and nations.

Organized by NH 51 R.E.B.E.L.S, the event was held from December 5 to 7 at the scenic Asibra Estate in Dodinanggre near Tura in Garo Hills. The event was also supported by Meghalaya Tourism.

NERM, one of India’s largest motorcycling events, drew over 3,000 bikers from northeastern states, other parts of India, Nepal, and Bhutan. Over three days, participants immersed themselves in camping, cultural performances, sporting events, and nightly concerts featuring top bands from the Northeast and Mumbai.

This year’s meet aimed to celebrate the spirit of motorcycling while promoting the scenic beauty and rich cultural heritage of the Garo Hills. Riders explored local tourist destinations before and after the meet, contributing to a significant boost in local tourism. Many participants stayed at campsites and homestays, and local entrepreneurs showcased Garo culture through traditional artifacts and crafts at stalls set up around the venue.

The first day began with rider registrations, where participants were greeted with traditional rice wine as part of their initiation. NH 51 R.E.B.E.L.S inaugurated a public toilet facility at Asibra Estate, emphasizing their commitment to the community. The day ended with high-energy performances by bands like Strange Origin, Sonic Fusion, and High Volt, setting the tone for the event.

The final day (Day 3) showcased the bikers’ strength and unity with a strongman competition, a thrilling dirt race, and a tug-of-war match among motorcycle clubs.

Prizes were distributed to winners of the sporting events, and the evening concluded with captivating performances by bands like Restless Desire, Colours, Imprints, and Neeraj Shridhar & Bombay Vikings.

In a grand closing ceremony, NH 51 R.E.B.E.L.S announced the next host for NERM 2025 – the 30° North Motorcycle Club of Arunachal Pradesh.

The finale was graced by Sanjay Sangma, MLA from Mahendraganj, who joined Neeraj Shridhar on stage for a Bollywood song. Sangma expressed gratitude to the riders for their participation and wished them a safe journey back home.
