Tura, May 30: The Northeast Media Hub together with likeminded people awarded Rs. 1.1 lakh to Salrime M. Sangma, who secured the 3rd rank in this year’s Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations from St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Tura, West Garo Hills.

Northeast Media Hub contributed Rs. 20,000, Mere Mentor contributed Rs. 5,000 and voucher for career mapping, and Senior Journalist Cosmos K. Sangma collaborated with friends and officers in Tura to contribute Rs. 85,000.

Salrime’s achievement is a testament to her unwavering spirit and determination as she comes from a financially challenged background and could not afford tuition from nursery till date. She relied on herself alone and the classroom learnings to secure the top rank among the Garos, and overall 3rd rank in the State. Her mother is a single mother who runs a small shop and faces immense financial constraints.

The contribution by Northeast Media Hub and others is to help her alleviate some of her hardships and focus on her further education.
