Shillong, Dec 5: Congress leader and Deputy CEM of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Pynshngaiñ N Syiem, stated that while Congress party workers are unhappy with the alliance with the National People’s Party (NPP), the party has still achieved many things while being part of the EC with the NPP.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Syiem expressed that many party members are concerned with the alliance with the NPP in the KHADC.
“The Congress party workers have voiced out that they are not happy working with the NPP, but from day one when we decided to work with them, we are very clear that our purpose and objectives is to contribute for strengthening the custom, the traditional practice of different institutions in the jurisdiction of the District Council,” said Syiem.
He cited the importance of being in the EC with NPP on the amendment of the Sixth Schedule.
“The amendment is so crucial that it is good for us to be part of the EC, to give proposals so it will not affect our community,” added Syiem.
