Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, MP WR Kharlukhi, and Cabinet Minister Dasakhiatbha Lamare were present at the event.Hitting out at the opposition, NPP Chief Conrad Sangma in his speech said, ” despite all the negativity the people of the state have realised and have voted in favor of the government which reflects the work done by the present government.”
Winning for the first time in the two strongholds of the Congress, Sangma stated that the victory was not easy.“We must not be proud or feel that we have achieved the greatest even though it was a very sweet victory for us because both these constituencies were not the NPPs constituencies they were from the opposition and it’s not easy for any party to be able to capture constituencies which are not yours”.
