Dibrugarh, May 22: Miao Battalion Assam Rifles under Spear Corps has taken a four-day multi-event initiative in coordination with the Ex-Servicemen Association of Arunachal Pradesh (EX-SWAAP).
Assam Rifles’ initiative is focused on honouring the supreme sacrifice of Late Rifleman Avatar Chakma, PMG (Posthumous), which began with a Wreath-Laying Ceremony.
During the wreath-laying ceremony, Punyo Ranjan Chakma (father) and Bano Puli Chakma (mother) of the brave soldier interacted with Commandant Miao Batallion and expressed their gratitude and concerns related to their personal issues.
After the interaction, saplings were planted near the memorial. The Inauguration of the Late Rfn Avtar Chakma, the PMG Football Tournament, and traditional cultural dances from the villagers at Diyun Public Football Ground followed.
School students and local tribes, such as Mossang and Deori, presented cultural dances. The inaugural football match was played between Namsai FC and Innao FC.
More than one thousand people, including EAC Diyun, ZPM, ZMC Members, and village heads from the region, attended the event. Ten teams participated in the event, which will continue for three days. The final match will be played at Diyun Football Ground.
Apart from this, Unity & Peace Rallies at various locations and Medical camps are also being organised on 23, 24, and 25 May.
It is truly an excellent initiative taken by Miao Batallion to bring harmony & peace in the region.
Such events motivate young boys & girls of the region to join the armed forces & other government organisations.
For the first time in the region, the Assam Rifle Batallion, on its own initiative, has organised such a large-scale event to honour the local hero, a brave heart who made a supreme sacrifice.
The Commandant’s speech in the local Chakma language is not only a message to locals about how deeply Assam Rifles gets involved with them but also an assurance of being an unbiased and truly professional force.
These events will bridge gaps in the society and bring them closer.
