Tura, March 5: The West Garo Hills Archery Association (WGHAA) was officially formed today at a meeting held at the DRDA Hall in Tura. The association aims to not only professionalise the sport of archery in the region but also preserve and promote the traditional archery practices deeply rooted in Garo society.
Dolrich BG Momin was elected as the President Rupanker K Marak and Ringrang T G Momin were elected as Vice Presidents Melkey Chisim as the secretary and Dr James W Momin as the Joint Secretary.
The formation of the WGHA is a positive step towards preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of archery in the Garo community, while also providing a platform for developing archery as a competitive sport in the region.
