Shillong, August 03: Shillong police have arrested one person on charges of robbing a 70-year-old woman in the city.
A complaint was filed with the Sadar police station on July 30, that on July 29, an unknown masked miscreant illegally entered the house of Janaki Toi at Umsohsun, assaulted her and snatched her gold ring, ATM card and mobile phone.
During the course of investigation, it was revealed that one person from Mawblei was suspected to be involved in the commission of crime, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said on Thursday.
Accordingly, on August 1, a raid was conducted in the house of the above said person.
During interrogation, he confessed his involvement in the crime and also disclosed that the stolen gold ring was sold to one of the jewellers in Mairang, added the SP.
The same has been seized and the accused person was arrested and forwarded to court, he said.
