Agartala, May 28: One person was killed and eight others were injured after a Bolero vehicle and a lorry collided head on near Cooperative Bank adjacent to the Agartala-Sabroom National Highway at Charilam Motor stand.
The deceased, was identified as Jahangir Hossain, injured were all labourers and they were rescued from the accident site by fire-fighter and rushed to the hospital.
The injured labourers, Faruk Mia, Dulal Saha, Deepak Shil, Milan Mia, Subal Mia, Suhel Mia, Abdul Mia, Ripon Mia, and Nasir Mia, were initially taken to Bishalgarh sub-divisional hospital.
After initial treatment, the attending doctor referred all the injured to GBP hospital in Agartala for further care.
Bishalgarh’s local MLA Sushanta Deb rushed to the hospital to ensure prompt treatment and transportation of the injured to GBP hospital.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was sent to the hospital morgue.
