Opposition in Assam alleges violation of Model code of conduct, writes to Election Commission

Guwahati, Mar 18: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and Assam Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Sunday wrote a letter to Chief Election Commissioner of India against Assam BJP for alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by not removing advertisement, publicity materials of Prime Minister and Assam chief minister.

The MCC came into force from March 16 after the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections date but the Assam government yet to remove the advertisement and publicity materials alleged APCC chief Bhupen Borah in the letter to Rajiv Kumar, chief Election Commissioner he stated that Assam BJP was violating the MCC.

Ripun Borah, President of Assam Trinamool Congress, said that “after the MCC came into force there are still a huge number of hoardings across the state of Assam bearing different advertisements of the Government with photographs of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Assam.
