Tura, April 7: As part of the ongoing observation of Blindness Prevention Week, Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Tura organised a free eye check-up camp at its premises on Monday. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the District Medical and Health Department and Brahmaputra Eye Care Center, Mancachar (Assam).
The camp saw over 400 people attending, including staff from DDK Tura and Akashvani Tura, as well as members of the public.
A mobile eye clinic van was stationed within the DDK campus, offering free consultations and screenings. The clinic operated under the supervision of Jolitha Ch. Marak, optometrist from the District Medical & Health Office (DMHO), and saw more than 150 individuals undergo eye health check-ups.

To ensure comprehensive screening, the Brahmaputra Eye Care Center brought advanced diagnostic equipment to the camp, including a slit lamp, autorefractor meter, direct and indirect ophthalmoscopes, and a refraction unit.
The camp was aimed at raising awareness about preventable blindness and encouraging early detection and treatment of eye-related issues.
